The historic North Parish of North Andover is a 330-member welcoming congregation with 110 children and youth currently enrolled in our religious education program. We are seeking a Director of Religious Education to lead a broad and diverse religious education program that nourishes spiritual growth and Unitarian Universalist identity. We have just completed a comprehensive interim process and are ready to partner in furthering our vision.

We are seeking a Director of Religious Education who holds a bachelor’s degree and has at least five years experience. Preference will be given to someone working toward UUA credentialing requirements or having similar experience. The Director of Religious Education will be both a leader and someone who is flexible and collaborative. The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on supporting social action programs, building intergenerational connections, and engaging volunteers.

REPORTS TO: The Director of Religious Education reports to the Minister and Religious Education Committee.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Director of Religious Education (DRE) is responsible for the children's and youth religious education programming of the church. The DRE will work closely with the Religious Education Committee and the Minister. The DRE works to accomplish the goals of the religious education program:
  • Build and implement the Children's and Youth's RE programs.
  • Provide opportunities for children to learn about the UU principles and to share in the life of the church.
  • Work with the church community to grow the religious education program and the congregation.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the Religious Education Committee and the Minister.
  • Include children with learning or behavioral issues in the religious education program and the life of the church.

EDUCATION: A high school degree is required. Bachelor's degree preferred. EXPERIENCE: Prior experience, as a DRE is preferred. Prior experience working with children with learning or behavioral issues is preferred. We seek a dynamic educator to serve as Director of Religious Education. We are a 75+ member congregation with a renewed focus on growth and outreach into our community. We have a regular attendance of 12 or more children and are looking to hire a religious educator to help us grow, shape, and define our children’s program.

Half-Time Director of Children's Religious Education

This is a permanent position. 18 - 20 hours per week, September to June. Hours must include Sundays 9 am to 1:00. Weekday hours are flexible with some evening meetings.

First Church and Parish in Dedham is searching for a creative energetic communicator who will work with the Minister and the Religious Education Committee to create a supportive environment and spiritual community for children and adults.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Applicants will have a bachelor degree or equivalent. Equally important are Religious Education experience and training and ease and comfort working with children, youth and adults. Computer skills including experience with Microsoft Word and Excel are necessary. Energy, creativity, and a sense of humor are a must.

Fully and partially credentialed Religious Educators will be given preference.
Compensation:
Salary ranges from $14,500 to $18,000 commensurate with experience (falling within guidelines set by the Unitarian Universalist Association for a small sized congregation prorated for half-time work.)
The Director of Children's Religious Education will receive 4 Sundays off per year (September to June) and one week or 7 days of sick or vacation time to be coordinated with the Religious Education Committee and the Minister.

Religious Education and Membership Development Coordinator

Our growing, dynamic liberal religious congregation seeks a Religious Education and Membership Development Coordinator to provide support to the religious education program and to the congregation’s efforts to attract, integrate, and engage members.

Requirements:
• Excellent organizational skills, especially proficiency with databases and management of information from multiple sources (email, phone calls, personal contact).
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, as well as solid interpersonal skills.
• Experience working with children and/or education in child and adolescent development.
• Ability to work both independently and in close communication with lay leaders, supervisors and the staff team and adhere to our Code of Professional Practice.

The Religious Education and Membership Development Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Religious Education (DRE) and the Minister. This is a half-time position, requiring an average of 20 hours per week.
